31 Jul The A List: Picks For Your Palette
Tomorrow is not only the start of the long-awaited weekend, it also marks the start of August. That means spring must be close AND we’re two-thirds of the way through 2015 already! Aside from this frightening milestone, August is also a very special month as it is Auckland’s annual Restaurant Month. Therefore we have no choice but to spend the next 31 days celebrating all of the amazing food and beverages on offer in this gorgeous city! There’s so many to choose from, but at The Generalist PR we’ve managed to compile our top picks. Let your inner foodie go crazy!
DELI MAN – DOCUMENTARY
Auckland Art Gallery presents one of the best types of films there is – one about food! Erik Anjou’s Deli Man explores the history of the delicatessen in America over the last 160 years. Third generation and charismatic delicatessen man Ziggy Gruber shows what a deli really should be – layers of pastrami on pumpernickel bread, crunchy dill pickles, grainy mustard… drooling yet? There’s more to it than that though, a cultural, historical and ancestral experience, you have to see the documentary to fully understand the culture behind the delicatessens of America.
There might not be anything to eat at this event, but don’t let that deter you. If you find yourself craving that classic New York fare though, Auckland’s Federal Delicatessen isn’t far away and they do a pretty impressive Toasted Reuben sandwich.
