Queen’s Birthday on Queen’s wharf

Queen’s Wharf will transform this weekend to bring a taste of the UK to Auckland’s waterfront.

The free, three-day family event will celebrate the Queen’s birthday by exploring the history of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales through music, culture and food.

The event runs from Saturday to Tuesday at Shed 10 and The Cloud with fun activities such as dance parties, traditional films, a Mad Hatter’s tea party and a dress-up booth.

What better way to celebrate Her Majesty’s birthday than with some good food, music and a bit of culture.


Quay Street Café

Auckland Market

If you’re looking for something a little bit quieter this weekend, head to the Auckland markets for some of the city’s best fresh produce.

In the beautiful suburb of St. John’s, at the AMI Netball Centre, the market is a short distance from the city and offers stalls of every nature, from bric-a-brac to native foods, and free parking is definitely a bonus.

Every Woman Expo

Treat yourself like a Queen this weekend at the Every Woman Expo, held at the ASB show grounds 10am-6pm Saturday to Monday.

If you’re out of the big city then don’t fret! We’ve listed some royal celebrations taking place outside of the city this weekend.

The Royal Bash  

The Village Green, Paihia, is celebrating the Queen’s birthday with a royal bash, featuring some exciting musical talent to celebrate the night in grandeur.

The event will see in your Saturday evening in style, celebrations begin at 3pm and run until 12am.

If you’re interested in knowing more about the history behind Queen’s birthday weekend, then you’ll enjoy Palmerston North’s Te Manawa Museum’s royal celebration.

With plenty of fun activities planned, and the opportunity to sit in the same throne that the Queen sat in during her 1954 New Zealand visit, this will be a fun family day and it’s all for free!
